Launching SUM 20.0.0 (Beta) from SPP for Linux

Prerequisites

  • Ensure that you have permission to run shell scripts
  • Ensure that you have access to the SPP ISO image
  • Ensure that the SPP ISO image is mounted on the Linux system

About this task

Follow this procedure to launch the solution from the Service Pack for HPE ProLiant (SPP) ISO image. If the solution is not installed, the installer will run and finish the installation before launching the interface. If it is already installed, the interface will open directly in your default web browser.

Procedure

  1. Mount the SPP ISO image on your system.
  2. Navigate to the mounted directory containing the SPP files.
  3. Change to the directory where launch_sum.sh script is located.
  4. Run the script.

    ./launch_sum.sh

  5. In the menu, use Up/Down Arrow keys, or type 2 to select 2) Smart Update Manager 20.0.0 (Beta) - Install/Upgrade.
    NOTE
    The following are the launch option:
    • Press Option 1 to launch the traditional Smart Update Manager.

    • Press Option 2 to launch the Smart Update Manager 20.0.0 (Beta).

  6. Perform one of the following based on the installation status:
    • If SUM 20.0.0 (Beta) is not installed: Wait for the installation to complete. Once finished, the interface automatically opens in your default web browser.

    • If SUM 20.0.0 (Beta) is already installed: The installation step is skipped and the interface opens directly in your default web browser.

    NOTE
    If your current shell environment does not support opening a GUI or web browser automatically, the interface will not open automatically. In this case, manually open a supported browser and navigate to the SUM 20.0.0 (Beta) interface.

Results

The solution launches and the web interface opens in your default browser.
